Shifting
The ideal sticking choice on timpani is always alternate sticking. The sticking is determined by the direction you will be moving as well.
If you are moving from a low drum to a high drum, you ideally want to lead with your right hand. If you are moving from a high drum to a low drum, you want to lead with your left hand. This helps the movement to be smooth and less awkward.
When shifting from drum to drum, you should rotate your torso and body to achieve the most natural and even sounding sound.
